TATTOO AFTERCARE
With Second Skin:
You can leave your second skin on for 3-4 days. (Take off sooner if you notice it is starting to irritate you or cause redness, or if you notice the skin starting to peel or ink is oozing out of it. If ink can get out, bacteria can get in.)
When it is time to remove the second skin, peel it off slowly under running water.
Once it's been removed, give your tattoo a good wash with unscented soap. Let it air dry (Do not use towels or paper towels, these can contain irritants) and apply a minimal amount of unscented lotion. (Unscented lubriderm is a good, widely accessible option) Continue this regimen twice a day for up to 2 -3 weeks until your tattoo has flaked and is fully healed.
You may shower with your second on but do not soak or submerge your tattoo under water for at least 2-3 weeks.
Do not expose your tattoo to direct sunlight, use any scented products on or near your tattoo, swim, soak, or submerge, or wear tight clothing for the first 2 weeks while it settles into the skin. Be cautious around pets. Remember your tattoo is an open fresh wound so treat it with care.
Without Second Skin:
You will want to remove the covering on your tattoo within a few hours, you do not want it to sit for too long without being able to breathe as this can breed infection.
Take the bandage off with clean hands and wash your tattoo right away with unscented soap.

Your tattoo may ooze a bit for the first couple days, this is normal but be careful around light coloured clothing and bedsheets as it can stain.
Be especially careful for the first few days that your tattoo is most prone to infection. Wear clean, loose clothing and make sure all your bedding has been freshly changed.
